Dorset Carers Partnership Group Invites Local Organisations to Support Carers Week 2026

26th March 2026

The Dorset Carers Partnership Group, a collaboration of local organisations and Councils, is inviting community groups, charities, services and networks across Dorset to get involved in planning and delivering activities for Carers Week 2026. The group works year‑round to raise awareness of unpaid carers and improve the support available to them, coordinating shared campaigns for Carers Week and Carers Rights Day.

Carers UK has announced that the theme for Carers Week 2026, taking place from 8–14 June, will centre on building carer‑friendly communities. The campaign calls for greater recognition of unpaid carers and highlights the importance of creating places and organisations that identify carers, listen to their experiences and ensure they are not left to manage alone.

Unpaid carers contribute an estimated £184 billion to the UK economy each year—an amount comparable to the cost of running a second NHS—yet many still struggle to access the support they need. Strengthening local support is essential, and community involvement plays a vital role.
Why Local Involvement Matters

Accessible activities rely on events taking place within local communities, where carers live, work and connect. The Dorset Carers Partnership Group is encouraging organisations of all sizes to take part, whether by hosting an event, sharing information, offering space, or helping to raise awareness.
