Art in Dementia Care – Supporting Eating and Drinking Well at Home

12th February 2026

Introduction:

Bournemouth University invites you to a special creative workshop and artwork showcase focused on supporting nutrition and hydration for people living with dementia. This event will be held at Lighthouse Poole’s Centre for the Arts on March 2, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM GMT.

Event Overview:

Join us for an exhibition of a painting inspired by the ‘nuTritiOn and deMentia AT hOme’ (TOMATO) research project, funded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR). This artwork showcase is a collaboration between a local artist, Adilson Naueji, Patient and Public Involvement representatives, researchers from Bournemouth University (BU), and collaborative partners on the TOMATO project.

Event Details:

Through this creative dissemination event, attendees will have the opportunity to use art as a way of connecting with the experiences of people living with dementia and their carers. The session will encourage deeper engagement with the challenges of maintaining good nutrition and hydration at home as dementia progresses and will highlight ways to provide better support.

The workshop will facilitate the exploration of the newly launched Eating and Drinking Well with Dementia at Home resources, inviting audiences to consider the “How To” and ‘Tips’ to support people living with dementia based on their nutritional needs.

Who Should Attend:

Everyone interested in nutrition, dementia, and home care is welcome, whether you are looking to learn more, support a family member, are part of a support group, or represent a charity organization, care provider, or work within the social care or healthcare sector.
