The pan‑Dorset Combating Drugs Partnership (CDP) continues to strengthen its prevention work across Dorset Council, BCP Council and partner agencies. As part of this next phase, we are inviting colleagues across the system to share updates, examples and insights that will help shape a coordinated, evidence‑informed prevention offer for children, young people, families and adults.

About the CDP Prevention Arm
The Prevention arm provides shared leadership and accountability across the partnership to jointly design, commission and deliver a proportionate, trauma‑informed and equitable prevention offer. It focuses on:
- Equity of outcomes, not uniformity of approach
- Clear commissioning priorities and identification of gaps
- Strengthened investment in prevention through partnership working
- Continuous learning, supported by strong data flows and multi‑agency collaboration
Three working groups sit beneath the Prevention arm, each with shared leadership and clear objectives:
Children & Families Working Group
Reducing harm from drugs, alcohol and tobacco/vapes by ensuring children, young people and families receive early, tailored prevention, are protected from exploitation, and supported through trauma‑informed pathways. Young people’s voices shape practice throughout.
Partnerships Working Group
Bringing partners together to deliver a coordinated, inclusive and trauma‑informed prevention offer. This group focuses on building workforce capability and ensuring prevention and education are prioritised across settings and age groups.
Data & Measurable Indicators Working Group
Providing shared intelligence, indicators and learning that inform, monitor and strengthen prevention. This group feeds directly in and out of both the Children & Families and Partnerships groups.
We Need Your Input by 9 June 2026
To build a clear picture of prevention activity across Dorset, we are asking partners to share:
- Key activities or initiatives delivered in relation to prevention
- Targeted youth work currently underway
- Good news stories, case studies or examples that demonstrate impact
- Identified gaps or pressures where the CDP or Police & Crime Commissioner may be able to support
- Any concerns relating to delivering prevention work
Your contributions will help shape the update being presented to the CDP next month and ensure the working groups reflect a truly pan‑Dorset approach.
Shout‑Out to Communications Partners
We are also inviting communications leads and partners to share:
- Stories
- Examples
- Quotes
- Case studies
- Positive outcomes
…that illustrate prevention in action across Dorset.
These will help us highlight the breadth of work happening across the system and strengthen shared messaging.
